Participant Waiver & Release (summary)

Draft policy, pending final review by Apex Sports & Courts.

Everyone who plays at Apex signs a participant waiver and liability release before their first session. Here's what it covers in plain terms. The full text is shown at booking, and it's the document that applies.

  • Who signs: every participant. For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian signs on their behalf and gives consent for them to participate.
  • When and how: digitally, as part of booking, before anyone steps on a court. The person who books is responsible for making sure everyone in their group has signed.
  • Understanding the risks: volleyball, pickleball, and other physical activities carry inherent risks, including falls, collisions, sprains, fractures, and other injuries.
  • Your part: play within your abilities, use equipment properly, follow the posted rules and staff instructions, and report injuries or hazards right away.
  • Release of claims: participants agree to assume the inherent risks of play and release certain claims against Apex, only to the extent California law allows.
  • What it doesn't do: it doesn't release Apex from liability for its own negligence, willful misconduct, or anything else California law doesn't allow to be waived. See the California liability notice.

Want to read the full waiver before you book? Email director@apexsportsandcourts.com and we'll send you a copy.
