Portrait of Katherine Andruha, founder of Apex Sports & Courts

Katherine Andruha

Founder

Silicon Valley taught Katherine how to build companies. Volleyball taught her something different: the power of a team.

A Bay Area native and longtime Silicon Valley leader, Katherine brings more than two decades of experience building and scaling high-growth technology companies. With an MBA, she has led teams of 20 to 150+, generated more than $1 billion in pipeline, and helped companies navigate acquisitions and two IPOs.

Her journey into volleyball began with her daughter, a competitive club and high school volleyball player at Menlo School. While searching for a place on the Peninsula where her daughter could get private lessons and additional training, Katherine discovered a simple problem: there weren’t enough quality spaces.

So she decided to build one, which probably wouldn’t surprise anyone who knows Katherine. Her friends often say, “Katherine gets it done.”

Apex Sports & Courts brings Katherine’s expertise in leadership, operations, and growth together with her passion for sports, with a mission to make great sports experiences more accessible to everyone.

Portrait of Dimitri Andruha, co-owner of Apex Sports & Courts

Dimitri Andruha

Co-Owner

With more than 30 years of service to his community in education and public service, Dimitri Andruha has dedicated his career to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

A former wrestling athlete and coach, Dimitri understands firsthand how sports build discipline, confidence, and character. He knows that when young athletes have a space where they feel supported, challenged, and confident, they have the opportunity to excel both on and off the court.

Like his wife, Katherine, Dimitri’s journey into volleyball began with their daughter’s passion for the sport. As he watched her commitment to the game grow, he saw firsthand the challenge of finding enough space for athletes to practice, train, and develop their skills.

That experience helped inspire the vision behind Apex Sports & Courts: creating a place where athletes can pursue their passion, families can connect, and the community can come together through sports.

As co-owner, Dimitri brings his lifelong commitment to education, athletics, and community service to building a facility where the next generation can grow, thrive, and reach its full potential.

NorStar Volleyball.

NorStar Volleyball is excited to call APEX Sports & Courts our new home!

As a competitive youth volleyball club serving the Bay Area, we're proud to bring our athletes, families, and experienced coaching staff to a facility that shares our commitment to providing a quality sports experience.

In just two seasons, NorStar has established itself as a nationally competitive program, with every top team qualifying for the 2026 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships and one earning a national silver medal. While we're proud of these early accomplishments, our focus remains on what drives them: exceptional coaching, individual athlete development, and a commitment to quality over quantity.

For NorStar, APEX represents more than just a place to practice. It's an opportunity to provide our athletes with a consistent training environment while being part of a larger sports community.

We're excited to see APEX become a welcoming destination for volleyball clubs, schools, pickleball players, and sports organizations throughout the Bay Area, and we're proud to be part of that journey.
